Prolapse of the eye

Uterine prolapse

Teeth extraction

May be required if the pet suffers from advanced periodontitis, under general anesthesia. It can be done at the same time as another treatment and is preceded by a thorough examination of the mouth and teeth.

Cleft lip

Congenital defect where there is a connection between the oral and nasal cavities due to an incomplete closure of the lip. The treatment is a reconstructive surgery of the lip (cheiloplasty) to restore the separation between the cavities.

Ear canal ablation

Procedure to eliminate ear infection and pain. The entire ear canal is extracted, the middle ear is opened, and the infected tissue is removed. Hearing loss occurs in the ear that undergoes surgery.

Scrotal ablation

Necessary in case of neoplastic pathologies of the scrotum, severe trauma, abscesses, ulcerations or ischemia.

Partial amputation of the penis

This intervention is performed to remove tumor lesions on the penis or foreskin and consists of the total removal of the affected area along with a safety margin.

Caudectomy

Surgical removal of an animal's tail that may be required for a variety of reasons. Significantly more common in dogs.

Cecectomy

Surgical procedure in which the cecum is completely removed. It can be performed in cases of rupture or a tumor.

Cystopexia

Cholecystectomy

Surgery to completely remove the gallbladder. It is the most common method to treat different pathologies of this organ, indicated when the gallbladder is the main cause of a disease (or there are serious or recurrent structural changes).

Colopexy

Surgery to join part of the colon with the wall of the abdomen. It is done to prevent part of the rectum from coming out of the anus for various reasons.

Drainage of prostatic cyst

The drainage procedure depends on the size and location of the cyst: the treatment for small cysts is castration; large cysts require castration, draining, resection, or emptying.

Fixation of an intestinal segment with another intestinal segment.

Enterotomy

Incision in the wall of the intestine, generally performed to eliminate foreign bodies in it.

Entropion

Abnormality of the eyelid in which it rolls inward towards the eye, causing the eyelashes to rub against the cornea. It causes from constant tearing and some pain, to corneal ulcers and loss of sight. Surgery for its correction must be performed in adults, unless it is very serious in puppies.

Enucleation

Surgical removal of the eyeball and a section of the optic nerve, when the eye is irrecoverable due to trauma. There is no need for lifelong treatment or care of the area, after healing.

Esophagotomy

Surgery to remove foreign bodies from the esophagus through an incision. The tissues are inspected and explored for additional injuries or foreign bodies.

Sthaphylectomy

Resection of excess soft palate, usually given in brachycephalic dogs. Some signs are exercise intolerance or breathing problems, although nausea, coughing and vomiting may also occur.

Phallopexy

Consists of suturing the body of the penis and the adjacent surface of the foreskin mucosa, to avoid many potential complications.

Partial gastrectomy

Partial removal of the stomach. Currently, its main applications are in the treatment of gastric tumors.

Perianeal hernia

Separation of the perineal muscles that allows the passage of abdominal contents towards the skin of the perineum. In surgery, the perineum is reconstructed by reducing the abdominal content and the traversed passage is closed.

Exploratory laparotomy

A general operation in which the abdomen is opened and the organs are examined for injury or disease. The patient must have a recovery period after surgery.

Nephrectomy

Surgery to remove the entire kidney and additional structures (radical) or just the diseased tissue in it (partial).

Nephrostomy

Opening between the kidney and skin for stone removal or management in the renal pelvis.

Eyelid neoplasia

It manifests as an eruption of variable pigmentation and, if the growth is rapid, it can become enucleated.

Auditory canal resection

This procedure increases the drainage and improves the ventilation of the auditory canal, in addition to facilitating the application of topicals within the horizontal canal.

Bowel resection

Surgery to remove part of the intestine. It can be done to treat an intestinal obstruction or when the integrity of the intestine is damaged.

Tracheal resection and anastomosis
